lindsey-syred-portraitLindsey Syred has 17 years of yoga experience. A former gymnast, she was no stranger to the intricacies of the mind-body relationship when she discovered yoga in 1996. With a piqued interest in holistic wellness, she explored various styles of yoga until she was introduced to Ashtanga in 2000, where she began a daily practice for 7 years under the guidance of Ron Reid. She taught both Ashtanga and Restorative Yoga at the Downward Dog Yoga Studio in Toronto until her move to France.

Lindsey currently lives in Paris, where she has been offering private, therapeutic yoga classes and massage therapy tailored to individual needs for the past 6 years. Her total of 14 years’ experience as a massage therapist has afforded her both a tangible and an intuitive understanding of the body’s demand for challenge and respite. Her recent practice is inspired by the Vijñāna lineage founded by Orit Sen-Gupta, where one is taught to “practice, feel, listen, and understand from within”, giving equal attention to posture (asana), breath work (pranayama) and “just sitting” (meditation). Lindsey’s teaching seeks to support students in a practice that is mindful, strong, creative, and kind – a practice that can be integrated into their day-to-day lives.

Lindsey is continually inspired by her own yoga practice and feels blessed to be able to share her experience with others. She is deeply grateful to her teachers over the years, most notably Ron Reid, Diane Bruni, Richard Freeman, Orit Sen-Gupta, her students, and most recently, her children Finley and Uma who teach her much about yoga off the mat!
